Our Story

 

At Mordeo, hospitality runs deep in our blood. Through three generations of chefs, providers, and restaurateurs from both sides of our family, we were born into the rhythm of the kitchen. As children, we woke to the comforting aromas of Southern European breakfasts being lovingly prepared — moments that instilled in us a lifelong love of food, family, and tradition.

This heritage shapes everything we do today. From a deep respect for quality produce to a philosophy of treating every guest like family, Mordeo isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a continuation of our family’s story, shared one plate at a time.

Located within the Martin Place precinct in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, Mordeo brings a slice of Southern Europe to the city. This elegant yet relaxed bistro pairs classic Southern European fare with an extensive wine list and house-made artisan beer.

Mordeo is affectionately designed as a romantic homage to the quintessential southern European bistro. Diners are charmed by its many authentic touches; like walls featuring subway tiles, copper spun pendant lights, a beautiful pressed tin bar and food delivered by expert energetic waiters.

Fully licensed bar offering boutique wines, a range of signature cocktails and a selection of craft beer.

Our cocktail list is small, enabling us to execute each drink to perfection. The menu is inspired by Southern European beverages showcasing distinctive flavours.

Offering fresh pasta made daily, hand stretched Napoli style pizza, fresh local seafood, and of course a variety of meat, game, and poultry.

Our menus offer a range of gluten-free, vegetarian and Vegan dishes.
